Cook, Krzyzewski talk Madison Square Garden

The aura and importance of Madison Square Garden has already been covered, and after No. 5 Duke’s 77-68 victory against St. John’s, the Mecca of Basketball was on everybody’s minds. Here’s what Quinn Cook and Mike Krzyzewski had to say about The World’s Most Famous Arena:

Generic Script

Quinn Cook

“The Garden was rocking out there, and that’s every kid’s dream.”

“My freshman year we won 903 for coach here, and four years later we’re back here at the best arena, so it’s great.”

Mike Krzyzewski

“And to [win my 1000th game] here, just to win here, but to win the 1000th, you’ve got to be a lucky guy. I like my place, Cameron, but this is a magical place.”

“For me as a player, as an Army coach, as the Duke coach, every time you set foot in The Garden, it’s an honor. It’s an honor for every basketball player and for every coach. And to do something—I think we’ve coach 35 games or so in The Garden, and then I coached some U.S. [Basketball] games.”

“To be a part—a small part of the history—my picture will be up in one of the restrooms somewhere. As long as it’s not in a bad part of the restroom I’m in good shape.”
