Recruiting Roundup: 2015 targets' decisions likely on hold, 2016 stars provide plenty of fireworks

Starting with the class of 2015, Brandon Ingram has still yet to make a decision and, as we reported last week, will likely wait until the spring to announce. Caleb Swanigan is also waiting to announce, but this makes sense as Swanigan reclassified late to the 2015 class and still is visiting schools.

Moving on to the 2016 class, Blue Devil assistant coach Jon Scheyer spent this past Monday watching Harry Giles and Duke was not the only top program on hand to watch the elite power forward.

Giles also won “poster of the week” from USA Today for this vicious dunk.

2016 guard Tyus Battle had a busy weekend as he watched Villanova take on Michigan in Brooklyn Wednesday night, before visiting Connecticut and watching the Huskies take on the Texas Longhorns Sunday. Villanova, Michigan and UConn are all in Battle’s final 11.

2016 center Thon Maker was also in the news this week, as his guardian Ed Smith told ZagsBlog that the big man would announce if he would reclassify to the Class of 2015 by January. Smith also said the four schools recruiting Maker the hardest right now are Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana and Stanford.

2016 forward Jayson Tatum had a big game this weekend in a loss as he led his Chaminade team with 31 points and 18 rebounds and 2016 point guard Dennis Smith Jr had 16 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in his team’s win against Village Christian.

2016 forward Sacha Killeya-Jones took his second visit to Duke this past week. The 6-foot-11 power forward attends Virginia Episcopal School and is currently a four-star recruit ranked 76th by 24/7 sports.
