Response to reported Program in Education images

We write in response to the Program in Education images reported in the April 17, 2014 issue of The Chronicle. The images were photoshopped and used to highlight different foods at several lunches for faculty and staff some years ago. We want to acknowledge that the images are insensitive and inappropriate, and faculty have engaged in dialogues focused on ensuring that respect for diversity is deeply reflected in all of our Program endeavors. We now are calling for a series of meetings of the faculty to continue to develop strategies for increasing our awareness and sensitivity to diversity. We take full responsibility and commit to the process of continued work in addressing these matters.
