2014 NCAA tournament preview: Delaware

Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens

Record: 25-9

Head coach: Monté Ross (8th season)

Season summary: While the Blue Hens’ schedule isn’t knocking anyone out of their seat, Delaware has been relatively successful against weaker opponents. The Colonial Athletic Association champions are riding a five-game win streak into the tournament. Unfortunately, against stiffer competition like Ohio State and Villanova, the Blue Hens have fallen short. On the bright side, Devon Saddler, Davon Usher and Jaris Threatt combine for 57.2 points per game, and Ross will hope for continued huge production out of his offensive triumvirate. Delaware will need all the firepower it can muster in order to pull off the upset against Michigan State.

How they make a run: Simply put, Delaware will need to score in droves in order to advance.

How they falter: The Blue Hens give up 75.1 points per game, a dangerous weakness against the big-name teams they will be facing in the tournament.
