2014 NCAA tournament preview: Albany

Albany Great Danes

Head coach: Will Brown (13th season)

Record: 19-14

Season summary: The Great Danes struggled through much of the first half of its season, suffering consecutive losses on three separate occasions. Albany caught fire in mid-February, winning seven of eight games including the conference tournament, where the Great Danes defeated University of Maryland-Baltimore County, Vermont and Stony Brook. Playing against Mount St. Mary's for the opportunity to face No. 1 overall seed Florida, Albany knocked off the Mountaineers 71-64 on the back of 20-plus point performances from Peter Hooley and the 5-foot-9 DJ Evans.

How they make a run: Hooley, Evans and every single other Great Dane go off for massive scoring outputs and Florida's Scottie Wilbeken is slapped with his third suspension in the last two seasons.

How they falter: Albany is totally overmatched by the Gators and never are competitive against the No. 1 overall seed.
