Class of 2015 guard Tyler Dorsey receives Duke offer

Duke has offered a scholarship to Class of 2015 combo guard Tyler Dorsey, who is ranked the No. 8 player in the his recruiting class by ESPN. The 6-foot-4 guard from Saint John Bosco High School in Los Angeles tweeted about an offer from the Blue Devils late Monday night.

Dorsey's Belmont Shore AAU squad lost in the quarterfinals of the Las Vegas Fab 48 tournament last week. He has received a slew of scholarship offers to date, most notably from Louisville, Connecticut, Arizona, Florida and UCLA, among many others.

In an interview with SNY.tv recruiting guru Adam Zagoria last month, Dorsey's father, Jerrid, spoke at length about Duke's recruitment of his son:

"I’ve been in contact with him [Wojo] for a while now. He said they’ll be tracking him hard. He said that he believes Tyler could play with another point guard. They said their best teams, they always had two good ball handlers on the court. Wojo is like, they are going after [2014 point guard] Tyus Jones, and if he ends up coming there, they don’t know yet. But if he does and Tyler came in the following year, they could play together. With them there at the same time, they would kind of have a better team with two super dribblers out there at the same time.”

Dorsey is now the fourth player in the Class of 2015 to have received a scholarship offer from Duke. The other three are Australian-born Montverde Academy forward Ben Simmons, Jackson, Miss. point guard Malik Newman and Franklin, Ohio guard Luke Kennard.
