Report: Duke basketball interested in Tarik Black

Memphis Tigers forward Tarik Black is graduating this semester and plans to transfer for his final collegiate basketball season. Since he will have graduated, he is expected to be eligible to play immediately instead of having to sit out a season.

According to Jeff Goodman of CBS, Duke is among the teams interested in the 6-foot-9, 262 pound forward.

Black would be an interesting fit for the Blue Devils. With Mason Plumlee and Ryan Kelly graduating and taking their talents to the NBA, Duke is sorely in need of a big man. The only remaining interior players on the roster are 6-foot-7 Josh Hairston, 6-foot-8 Amile Jefferson, and 6-foot-11 Marshall Plumlee, who has played very sparingly in his Duke career.

Black posted career lows with Memphis last season. He averaged 8.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 20.8 minutes per game. While a low for Black, that rebounding figure would have ranked third on the team for Duke in 2012-13, behind just Plumlee and Kelly.
