Longtime Duke basketball associate head coach Chris Collins was away from Durham last night, as he was interviewing for the head coaching gig at Northwestern. The Wildcats fired their head coach Bill Carmody earlier this month after a 13-year stay at the helm of the program.
Stephen Wiseman of the Herald-Sun spread the news of Collins' interview via twitter.
Chris Collins skipped his radio show appearance last night so he could interview with Northwestern. Had Wojo fill in.— Stephen Wiseman (@stevewisemanNC) March 26, 2013
The Chicago Tribune's Teddy Greenstein shed more light on the interview itself.
Am told that #Northwestern's interview w/Chris Collins went incredibly well. Possible school could hire him this week. More to come.

Collins has been an assistant with Duke since 2000. He is expected back with the Blue Devils today to help plan for the team's Sweet 16 matchup against Michigan State this Friday.
Another note from Wiseman:
One other tidbit on Collins/Northwestern: Chris will remain on Duke staff until this season is complete, even if named NW head coach.
