Former Duke Basketball star Phil Henderson passes

Phil Henderson passed away in his home in the Philippines Sunday at the age of 44.

As a senior, Henderson was an integral part of Duke's 1990 Final Four team, of which he was named captain. His standout senior year was commemorated by selections to the ACC All-Tournament, NCAA All-East Regional, and NCAA All-Final Four teams.

"On behalf of the entire Duke Basketball family, we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Phil Henderson," head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a press release. "Our hearts go out to his mom and family. Phil was a talented player and a good man with a gentle soul. We will miss him dearly.”

Henderson eventually became a second round selection of the Dallas Mavericks before enjoying a professional career overseas.
