Duke announces extension with AD Kevin White

Duke has extended vice president and director of athletics Kevin White through June 30, 2019, according to a press release on GoDuke.com. White joined Duke in May 2008.

"Kevin understands the importance of athletics in projecting Duke’s values to the world, and he exemplifies Duke’s commitment to a high level of excellence in athletic competition as well as in academics," Duke President Richard Brodhead said in the release.

Previously, White had served as the athletic director at Notre Dame.

"To be sure, it is indeed a tremendous honor, as well as a supreme privilege, to serve Duke University," White said in the release. "Representing a 'world class' university, from both an academic and athletics perspective, is terribly gratifying. Simply put, our esteemed President, Dr. Brodhead, along with our outstanding Board of Trustees, has continually provided distinctive leadership and unqualified support."

Last month, the University announced an extension of football head coach David Cutcliffe through the same date, June 30, 2019.
