Connor Vernon named Preseason All-ACC

Connor Vernon received his first of what could be many accolades before the season even starts. When the balloting finished at the ACC Football Kickoff, the Duke receiver was named to the Preseason All-ACC Football Team.

Vernon has 198 career receptions, good for 2,675 career yards, putting him in position to break not only Duke school records, but ACC records as well. Vernon is nine catches away from the school record and 35 from the ACC mark. He's 643 and 843 yards shy of the Blue Devil and ACC records, respectively. Using his 2011 numbers as a barometer, a season in which he collected 70 catches and 956 yards, the senior from Miami, Florida should claim all those records. Vernon also enters the coming season the active leader in catches and yards in the entire NCAA.

Vernon was the only Blue Devil named to the Preseason All-ACC team. The other wide receiver to receive the honor was Clemson's Sammy Watkins, a sophomore from Fort Meyers, Florida.
