Football practice field named

Duke vice president and director of athletics Kevin White announced today that the football field within the new Pascal Field House will be named in honor of Sara Lynn and K.D. Kennedy, Jr.

Sara Lynn Kennedy graduated from Meredith College in 1964 and serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Theatre and Performance Edge. K.D. Kennedy, Jr., a Class of 1964 graduate from Duke with a degree in electrical engineering, is the CEO of Electric Supply Company of North Carolina, Inc., is a lifetime member of the Iron Dukes, and has served on numerous Duke athletics advisory committees, including the Athletics Council and Athletic Director’s Advisory Board.

"Historically speaking, no two people have been more passionate or enthusiastic about seeing Duke Football return to prominence, and their commitment helps serve as the foundation of our success," White said in a release.

The 120-yard playing surface will be utilized by the football program and by Duke's various physical education and intramural programs. A dedication ceremony will be held tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
