Wallace Wade Overflowing with "Crimson" Fever

Everyone knew that playing Alabama would be Duke Football's biggest game in years.

But no one knew it would be this big.

Duke Athletics officially announced today that they would add eight sections of temporary bleachers in Wallace Wade to accommodate increased demand for the Blue Devils' matchup with the No. 1 Crimson Tide. The bleachers will increase Wallace Wade's capacity by 3,904, bringing the stadium's total capacity to 37,845.

“This is a unique and exciting situation,” said Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White. “Interest in Duke Football is as high as it has been in decades, which is a testament to the great work done by David Cutcliffe and his staff. Coupled with hosting the reigning national champion and No. 1 team in the country, it has created ticket demands that exceed the seating limits of Wallace Wade Stadium for this particular weekend. The appropriate response is to accommodate as many fans as we possibly can.”

The added seats will change the look of Wallace Wade as well, as 572 seats will be added at field level behind the normally vacant north end zone.
