The University plans to sell the lacrosse house—located at 610 North Buchanan and the site of the 2006 lacrosse scandal—following the resolution of several remaining civil suits.
Michael Schoenfeld, vice president for public affairs and government relations, told ABC News that Duke has a long-term plan to renovate and sell house just as it has with several other Trinity Park neighborhood properties.
The University purchased 15 rental properties near East Campus for $3.7 million in early 2006 with the intention of turning them into single-occupancy residences. Since 2006, however, the University has renovated and sold several of the houses.
Although it has been more than four years since the lacrosse house was occupied, pending civil suits have held up property renovations. Until these lawsuits are resolved, the house will remain vacant.
Schoenfeld also noted that “the house is regularly maintained and kept locked,” according to Raleigh News.
