Blue Devils Hit With Injuries Headed To Kansas

Only two games into the season, Duke is already banged up -- and the timing is particularly unfortunate, given the Blue Devils are just two days away from playing a ranked team.

Freshman wide receiver Connor Vernon is doubtful for Duke's Saturday matchup at Kansas, while running back Jay Hollingsworth and stalwart defensive tackle Vince Oghobaase are both questionable. Starting running back Re'quan Boyette and tight end Danny Parker are both listed as probable. Cornerback Randez James and running back Kyle Griswould remain out.

This week's injury report, released every Thursday, is by far the most significant of the three so far. The speedy Vernon, who injured his ankle last Saturday at Army, shined in his first college games, grabbing six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. Hollingsworth is Duke's second-leading rusher, while Oghobaase, the leader of the Blue Devils' defensive front, has 16 tackles. Matching up against Kansas' high-powered offense, Duke needs all it can get on both sides of the ball, and injuries aren't going to help the cause.
