Men's Basketball Program Joins Twitter

Duke Sports Information announced Thursday that the men's basketball program has created an official Twitter account—@DukeMBB—for fans to follow.

According to GoDuke.com, the team's Twitter will provide "news from the team, links to newspaper clippings, links to video clips and other information on Blue Devil hoops that cannot be found anywhere else." It remains unclear how @DukeMBB will differ from @DukeBluePlanet, which does exactly that.

Since May 8th, the account has garnered 201 followers—recipients of the 140-character updates.

In addition to @DukeMBB, coaches Chris Collins (@coach_collins) and Steve Wojciechowski (@steve_wojo) have joined the site.

A few sample updates from @DukeMBB:

  • Panels of the Spectrum floor where Christian Laettner launched his historic buzzer beater in 1992 are available by calling 215-952-5656.
  • 3rd annual Kyle Singler Southern Oregon Tournament, which benefits Kids Unlimited, opens today in Medford, Ore. http://tinyurl.com/d6c9da
  • Congratulations to Shelden Williams and Candace Parker, who are proud parents of a healthy baby girl, born in L.A. on Wednesday.
