Cameron Crazies Earn More National Airtime

Lately, the Cameron Crazies have ratcheted up their intensity in another arena: advertising.

Back in November, a call went out to the Crazies to film a March Madness Coke Zero commercial in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The result: one of two Coke Zero spots we have already glimpsed on national television (the other one spotlights, naturally, Rock Chalk, Jayhawk).

The commercials are part of Coke Zero's Taste the Madness campaign, in which fans are invited to upload their best and crazies fan videos for a chance to be featured during the 2009 Final Four broadcast.

And after visiting the Blue Devils in January to customize the players' shoes for this year's NCAA Tournament, Nike again makes the most of its ever-strong Duke connection, last week unveiling a new commercial promoting its customizable NikeiD kicks. We haven't seen this one making the television rounds yet, but it's only a matter of time.

It remains to be seen how the ads will fare come Tournament time. For now, the Crazies are enjoying the limelight and increased publicity.

Not that they needed it, really, given their amount of airtime during broadcasts of Duke's games.
