We knew Joe Alleva must have been somewhere in the Greensboro Coliseum Saturday as his LSU Tigers played a team he's quite familiar with: North Carolina. But until he wrote a letter to The Chronicle, we didn't put it together that it must have been oddly surreal for him to hear Duke fans cheering for his new school--or, more aptly, against the Tar Heels. The better question: How many LSU fans stayed to root for Duke, and was Alleva one of them?
On behalf of the Louisiana State men's basketball team, we would like to say "thank you" to the Duke students in attendance at the second round of the NCAA tournament at Greensboro for your support of the Tigers. We appreciated you rallying around our team and helping to combat a very partisan UNC arena.
