Is There Any Doubt?

If Gerald Henderson can consistently play like he did today, Duke is borderline unstoppable.

The last two games have been interesting for another reason, too, though. In the first eight minutes of the second halves against Davidson and Florida State, the Blue Devils looked Final Four ready--even Final Four worthy. But then in each of the last two games, there was this bizarre slump the team went into, allowing both opponents a chance to almost get back in the game. Weird, right?

I think we'll learn a lot about Duke's future tomorrow when No. 3 North Carolina faces off against No. 4 Wake Forest. Was the Boston College loss a fluke, or does North Carolina really have a few chinks in its armor? Can the Demon Deacons steal the ACC title or will their youth catch up with them?

But I can't stop thinking that if Henderson can play that well some of the time—just some—then the Blue Devils are scary good.

Late Update: Here's some words from Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton on Henderson's play.

"He made us pay every time we made a defensive mistake on him," Hamilton said. "He's a smart, talented player.... And he had an exceptional game."
