Bonnie 'Prince' Billy in New Yorker

Kelefah Sanneh wrote an interesting piece on Louisville-based singer/songwriter Will Oldham (aka Palace Brothers, Palace Music, Bonnie "Prince" Billy," etc.) in this week's New Yorker titled "The Pretender."

But it was clear that he wasn’t feeling entirely optimistic about having agreed to a magazine profile. “My mother’s a huge fan, and I really liked that Merle piece, but definitely there’s already . . .” He trailed off. “I don’t know. I really hate press. And it’s . . . yeah.”

Oldham's Lie Down in the Light was one of my favorite album's of 2008 and I am eagerly anticipating his 2009 release, which is expected in March. For the full story, click here.
