It's 7:30 p.m. and polls are closing all across the state of North Carolina. Assuming there are no major complications, we will know the next president in a matter of hours. While you are waiting for the major news networks to start speculating about which candidates are winning in which states, why not engage in some speculation of your own? William Hill, a British bookkeeper, has already created odds for the 2012 presidential race. But, as Ben Cohen reminded us in his previous post, such long-term political projections can be dubious forecasts.
