Blue Devils Don't Turkey Around

It’s that time of year again. Bring out the turkey, football, pumpkin pie and… basketball?

While the rest of the student body began its Thanksgiving break Tuesday night, head coach Mike Krzyzewski's squad remained on campus, where it's business as usual for the Blue Devils as they prepare to host Duquesne Friday.

“I didn’t know because we were in Maui last year, but school ends on Tuesday here,” Kryzezwski said. “So Wednesday becomes a really good day for us, Thanksgiving and then we play.”

And so, while you are relaxing and stuffing yourself to the gills on Thursday, you might be wondering how Coach K and the rest of his Duke squad will actually be spending their Thanksgiving day? On the court, of course. The Blue Devils will pass the basketball in the morning and then the gravy in the afternoon.

“We’ll practice late morning Thanksgiving day,” Kryzezwski said. “We’ll have a team meal together with whoever has their families there. Then we’ll come back late that night to have a team meeting.”

Duke may have a chance to get in some stuffing and mashed potatoes Thursday afternoon, but it will still be hungry for the main course Friday in the form of Duquesne. Eat up, Blue Devils.
