You might have noticed an influx of links to Chronicle stories, either on The Chronicle's website or on the RSS feed on the right side of The Chronicle's Sports Blog. It's a mammoth, 24-page SportsWrap that commanded our undivided attention for more than a week--the reason posting on the blog stagnated. Sorry about that, but we have plenty to offer for penance. Here are some of the highlights of the issue:
- HELLO, COACH K: As Duke tries to advance its global position in academia, how does Mike Krzyzewski's involvement in the Olympics help the cause?
- OLYMPIAN PROFILES: There's a good amount of Dukies in the Olympics this summer, including runner Shannon Rowbury and fencer Rebecca Ward. Plus, the first time we've caught up with Johnny Dawkins since he took over at Stanford.
- TURNING IT AROUND: David Cutcliffe has made sweeping changes throughout the football program. But only on-field results matter, and that's why the true test is yet to come. A battle at the quarterback position could define Duke's season.
- LETTERS TO THE CLASS OF 2012: And if you're a freshman or a Duke newcomer, what better way to acquaint yourself with Duke culture (and learn the do's and don'ts of Duke Athletics) than to read introductory columns from former sports editor Meredith Shiner and former Train conductor Alex Fanaroff?
We hope you enjoy the content, and feel free to reach The Chronicle's sports section anytime, by e-mailing bzc2@duke.edu.
