Injuries shorten bench

Sophomore center Brian Zoubek is out indefinitely after fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his left foot Monday.

It is the same injury Zoubek suffered July 9 in a pickup game. Then, the center underwent surgery and missed 10 weeks. Now, the Blue Devils do not expect Zoubek to require surgery.

"This is a setback for Brian and for the team," head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "He worked hard to recover from the injury over the summer and was beginning to solidify his role with the team. We have total confidence that Brian will recover from the injury and return as soon as he is physically able."

Zoubek is averaging 4.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per contest.
