At a forum held on campus Wednesday night, Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez announced that the Durham Police Department had arrested Stephen Oates in the murder of engineering graduate student Abhijit Mahato.
Media previously were reporting that Oates had been arrested in the robbery of a Duke employee and his wife Sunday night.
The body of Mahato, a native of India, was found in his apartment on Anderson Street Friday night.
