Blue Devils fall 4-2 to No. 2 Terrapins

Playing its final home game of the season at Williams Field, Duke lost for the fifth time in its last six matchups against Maryland Saturday. With the 4-2 win, the second-ranked Terrapins (13-0, 3-0 in the ACC) set a school record for most consecutive wins and snapped the No. 12 Blue Devils' three-game winning streak. Maryland, the defending national champion, outshot Duke 17-8 and had a 9-2 edge in penalty corners.

The Blue Devils (7-6, 1-3) got on the board first, as sophomore Amie Survilla scored her fourth goal of the year less than six minutes into the game. Duke held the lead for much of the first half, but the Terrapins struck with less than five minutes remaining. Katie O'Donnell fed Nicole Muracco on a two-on-one breakaway, and Muracco fired the ball past Blue Devil goaltender Caitlin Williams to tie the game.

O'Donnell recorded another assist early in the second half, setting up Janneke van Leeuwen as Maryland surged to a 2-1 advantage.

Survilla scored her second goal of the game at the 51:43 mark to tie the game for the Blue Devils. But O'Donnell put one in the back of the net less than a minute later to put Maryland back in front, and Ellen Ott scored on a penalty corner to seal the game for the Terrapins.

Duke now plays four consecutive non-conference games before facing Virginia to close out the conference schedule.
