Sophomore forward Jamal Boykin has elected to transfer from Duke, school officials announced Friday.
After seeing limited action as a freshman, Boykin played in the first three games of this season before being sidelined with mononucleosis. He had not played or been on the bench since, and head coach Mike Krzyzewski said Wednesday Boykin had returned home to Los Angeles, Calif.
"Jamal is a great young man and we wish him the best in his future," said Krzyzewski, who was informed of the final decision late Thursday night. "We're friends, and we totally support him through his illness, his impending transfer and whatever family concerns he has."
