Purse-snatcher nabbed

Moses Harris of 1315 Evan Lake Drive Apt. 2104 Durham, N.C., was arrested and charged with Attempted Common Law Robbery May 22 after he attempted to steal a purse that was being carried by an employee. Harris was given a $5,000 secured bond. He could not be reached for comment.

Apartment entered by stranger

Officers responded to 302 Oregon Street in reference to a reported burglary May 22. Officers spoke to the two student victims, who stated that an unknown subject entered their apartment while they were sleeping. They reported that they did not see the intruder, but they heard the door slam as the subject exited. They could give no description of the subject. Nothing was reported stolen. The apartment door had been left unsecured.

Unlocked room site of theft

A visitor at the Washington Duke Inn reported the theft of a camera May 21. The visitor stated that the camera was stolen May 2. She stated that the door to the room she was staying in had been left slightly ajar on several occasions that day because she was having trouble with the room access card. The Canon camera is valued at $250.

License plate filched

A student reported the theft of a North Carolina temporary license plate from her vehicle May 25. The vehicle was parked in the H lot on Anderson Street and Erwin Road at 7 a.m. May 25. She drove her vehicle home at around 5 p.m. the same day. She did not notice the plate was missing until she arrived at home. The license plate is valued at $20.

Computer, camera purloined

A visiting doctor reported the theft of an Acer palm computer and a Canon digital camera from clinic 2H May 24. The computer and camera were last seen at 11:30 a.m. May 24. They were discovered missing at 12:50 p.m. the same day. The room where the computer and camera were left was unsecured at the time of the theft. The items are valued at $1,100.

Durham Regional Hospital employee arrested

Esther Coleman of 8705 Millers Bend, Bahama, N.C., an employee at Durham Regional Hospital, was arrested May 21 and charged with embezzlement. She was charged with embezzling $2,500 from Durham Regional Hospital. She was given a $3,000 unsecured bond. Her court date was scheduled for May 24, but results were unavailable when The Chronicle went to press.
