Floyd dominates tourney

Leading the Blue Devils to a successful meet, Antwone Floyd won the 141-pound weight class at Sunday's UNC-Pembroke Open. The freshman took four consecutive matches, including a 4-2 win over teammate Adam Benitez in the finals.

Floyd won his first and second round matches with ease, pinning UNC-Pembroke's Rynell Burt less than three minutes into his first contest and earning a 15-8 decision over Henry Blue. He advanced to the finals with an injury defeat.

Led by Floyd and Benitez, the Blue Devils swept the podium at the 141-pound class. Sophomore Daniel Shvartsman lost his first round contest, but advanced through the wrestlebacks to claim third.

Duke also had success in the 174-pound division. Levi Craig advanced to the championship match but fell to Telton Detry 7-1.

Blue Devil freshman Christian Smith pinned Patrick Coman just 30 seconds in a match en route to a fourth place finish in the 125-pound class.
