Legally gone? DVDs missing

An employee reported Oct. 28 that four law-related DVDs--The Client, The Firm, Chicago and The Devil's Advocate--were missing from her office in the law school. She last remembered seeing the movies Oct. 2. They are valued at $79.72.

Money snatched from purse

An employee reported the theft of $70 in cash from her purse in 2200 Duke Hospital. The employee said she left her purse at her workstation during the day Oct. 23 and did not notice the theft until 11 p.m. that evening.

Projector almost stolen; police take fingerprints

An employee reported the attempted theft of an overhead projector from the Divinity School Oct. 28. The employee found damage to the projector housing and anti-theft devices. Duke Police investigators responded and took fingerprints from the scene.

Audio items taken

An employee reported the theft of two Emerson compact disc players and an unknown number of compact discs from her desk in the Duke Clinics building. The employee reported that sometime between 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27 and 8 a.m. Oct. 28, someone pried open her locked desk and took the CD players and CDs, which are valued at $200.

Card taken from computer

An employee reported that at 6 p.m. Oct. 29, while in a fourth floor carrel in the law school library, he placed his $80 Linksy's computer wireless card--serial number BDH103605557, model number WPC45G--in his wireless G computer. He stepped away for about 30 minutes and when he returned, his card was missing.

Bike filched

A student reported that between 5 p.m. Oct. 29 and 1:30 p.m. Oct. 30, someone stole his secured $350 silver and blue Trek bicycle, serial number C63BK967, from the bicycle rack in the West-Edens Link quadrangle.

Video camera stolen from CARL

An employee reported that between 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 and 10 a.m. Oct. 29, someone entered room 259 of the CARL Building and removed a $400 Sony video camera, model-DCRTRV340.

Permit taken at unknown time

A student reported that between 3 p.m. Aug. 30 and 3 a.m. Oct. 5, someone stole his $100 parking permit from his vehicle while it was parked at 301 Oregon Street.

Thief steals bike from House B

A student reported that sometime between Oct. 16 and Oct. 30, someone stole his $250 red and white Giant/Sedona bicycle, serial number S320730008618 "OAN" and cable lock from the House B bicycle rack.

Unsecured car loses permit to thief

An employee reported that between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30, someone entered his unsecured vehicle while it was parked in the Physics parking lot and removed his $100 parking permit.

Two computers peace out of Hospital

An employee reported that between 3 p.m. Oct. 28 and 11:39 a.m. Oct. 29, someone entered his secured office at 3200 Duke Hospital North and removed two 17-inch flat-panel black Dell notebook computers, valued at $439.20 each.

The first one's serial number is 39JAZDJ and the model is Dell 320-0664; the second one's serial number is 39JA3YR and the model is Dell 320-320-0664. There were no signs of forced entry.

Dough removed

An employee reported that between 11 a.m. and 1:05 p.m. Oct. 30, someone entered her unsecured locker in the law school and removed $20 in cash from her purse.

Gardens car loses items

A visitor reported that between 11:15 a.m. and 12:18 p.m. Oct. 31, while her vehicle was parked in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens parking lot, someone broke out a $250 window to her car and stole her $8 change purse and $50 black backpack.

Checkbook picked up in bathroom

A visitor reported that at 8:50 p.m. Nov. 1, he accidentally left his checkbook in a Duke Hospital South restroom. When he returned for his checkbook at 9:05 p.m., he discovered it was no longer there.
