Big-time center visiting Durham this weekend

Head men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski hopes to make a significant impact with 6-foot-10 center Eric Boateng.

Boateng, who hails from London, England, will visit the Gothic Wonderland this weekend. When he gets to Duke, he will have a familiar face greeting him.

"Luol [Deng] was headed to Blair Academy just as Eric was joining this club team in London," Boateng's coach Bob Rue said. "When Luol came back during breaks, they would play each other."

Last year, Boateng averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks per game as a sophomore for St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Del. His numbers are especially impressive considering that last year was only his first playing American high school basketball.

Boateng is ranked as the No. 12 prospect and top center in the class of 2005 by theinsiders.com. Duke has not yet offered the big man a scholarship; however, he appears to be near the top of Krzyzewski's wish list to fill Duke's final scholarship opening.
