Letter: Katz's ideas promise tangible results for students

The Chronicle needs to reassess their view of the Duke Student Government presidency. As a student, I know that I want a real leader, not a symbolic one. I want a president that can produce results that will make me better off and not waste valuable time dealing with restructuring and issues that the administration tightly controls.

In yesterday's editorial, The Chronicle downplayed Adam Katz's ideas on student services, yet his ideas will definitively help the students. I do not care whose job it is to implement student discounts and a textbook exchange - I just want it done. This is not a federal hierarchy and there should not be bureaucratic red tape in campus organizations. Aside from dealing with safety, academics and multi-cultural issues, Katz will produce very real results that the students want with his student service and student input initiatives.
