CRIME BRIEFS

A student reported that around 3:30 a.m. Sept. 15, he was assaulted at Rick's Diner. He reported that another student struck him in his chest with his right hand, causing a bruise on his chest that was found when he was transported to the emergency room. A warrant was obtained for sophomore Adam Hill, charging him with simple assault.

Hill said they had just been "fooling around" and that the charges have been dropped. His court date, however, is Oct. 10, said Maj. Robert Dean of the Duke University Police Department.
