Women's golf leads Duke tourney after second round

The women's golf team has used a little home cooking this weekend as it currently stands in first place in a field of 15 teams after the first two rounds of competition in the Duke Spring Invitational. Duke shot a 295 for the first round to take a one-stroke lead, and then followed that up with a three-under-par 289 to secure its lead.

After recording the lowest score in both rounds, Duke currently leads second place Wake Forest by 15 strokes going into the final round today at the Duke Golf Club. Duke also leads ACC foe and fourth-place North Carolina by 38 strokes.

The Blue Devils are being paced by Kathi Poppmeier who is in first place overall after shooting a 74-67 in the first two rounds. Her 67 ties the lowest score ever made by a female in the history of Duke's golf course Jenny Chuasiriporn, Stephanie Sparks, Alicia Allison and Liz Lepanto all joined Poppmeier in the top 10..

Today's third and final round will begin at 8 a.m.
