Coach Mike Krzyzewski

After five years on the sidelines at Army, Mike Krzyzewski took the head coaching job at Duke in 1980 and proceeded to win five national championships in a 25-year period (1991, 1992, 2001, 2010, 2015). Krzyzewski has taken 12 teams to Final Fours and 31 NCAA tournaments, in addition to capturing 13 ACC tournament titles. In the process, he became the winningest head coach in Division I men’s basketball history, surpassing his mentor Bob Knight Nov. 15, 2011, with career victory No. 903 at Madison Square Garden. On January 25, 2015, Krzyzewski became the first Division I men’s basketball head coach to reach 1,000 career victories with a win against St. John’s, also at Madison Square Garden. Krzyzewski has also had success on the international level, earning Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012 as the head coach of USA Basketball.
