We, the nation, now find ourselves trapped in a cave created and maintained by a man who willfully and openly rejects the happenings of the natural world.
As a tribal member who grew up on an Indian reservation, it always strikes me as odd to hear this term misused in general conversations off the reservation.
A little fiscal humility may go a long way.
The beauty of our democracy is that opposition is allowed—if not openly welcomed—so that conversation can turn into solutions capable of manifesting into action. How are we to reach positive action if our voices cannot be heard over leaders telling us to remain still and to remain silent?

While we believe that all four candidates are extremely qualified for the position of Young Trustee, we think that the extraordinary breadth and depth of Anya’s credentials and involvements significantly differentiate her for the position.
The Black Student Alliance is proud to endorse Uzoma Ayogu for Young Trustee and believe that he will serve exceptionally well as a steward of the university.
Finally, as a religious organization, we appreciate Tanner’s past and current commitments to fostering religious tolerance and acceptance across campus.
Members of Duke Diya, the South Asian Students Association, had the opportunity to talk with the four Young Trustee candidates recently, and we are excited to formally endorse Uzoma Ayogu.
Honor Council is confident that Tanner Lockhead is equipped to be the most impactful and meaningful Young Trustee and we support his vision for bettering the Duke community.
While all four candidates showcased strong leadership skills and exceptionally diverse perspectives, Lockhead stood out due to his rich experience working with the Durham community.
As the most qualified candidate to represent the Duke undergraduate student body and in particular, the Asian and Asian American communities at Duke, we feel that Soto’s experiences and perspective best prepare him to be an effective Young Trustee.
The Duke Undergraduate Research Society confidently recommends Tanner Lockhead as the best choice for Duke University, for our standing as global leaders in research and education, and for the greater Research Triangle Park and Durham community.
I would only ask that you weigh this uncertainty against the broader significance of this decision for those within and outside the Duke community, in addition to the specifics of how it may impact you or your department.

As graduate student employees at Duke prepare for union elections, their university is pushing back.
My hope is that with no thought of a riposte, we can finally hear each other, and realize that America, when you listen carefully, sounds purple.
