The opinions in the daily editorial are formulated by a panel comprising the editor-in-chief, the editorial page editor, the editorial page managing editor and 10 members of the undergraduate community selected through an application process.

The 13 members of the editorial board have diverse interests and an immense depth of knowledge about the University and the local community. The editorials are anonymously written by one member present at the meeting.

In an effort to be transparent, names and biographies of the members formulating the opinion are posted below.

His academic interests converge on political theory, and his main areas of research include the history of colonial New York, slave law in the antebellum South, the aesthetics of crime in the nineteenth century and the political meanings of the Sherlock Holmes canon. Frank Holleman is Trinity senior from Greenville, South Carolina and a history and political science double major. A former Chronicle columnist, he is currently a campus volunteer organizer for Barack Obama's campaign and is a sporadically active member of Duke Democrats, as well as a reformed blogger. He hopes he can get into law school and one day take Charlie Rose's job.

Kevin Hwang, Editorial Board Member

Kevin Hwang is a Trinity senior and Robertson Scholar from Houston, TX. As a pre-med, Public Policy major receiving a certificate in Global Health, he has worked extensively at Duke on issues in international health-sector finance/reform, the social determinants of health, and therapeutic production dynamics.
A former Chronicle News Photography Editor, Hwang's involvement with students at Duke has led him to ethnographic and service-oriented work across four continents on projects ranging from the construction of houses and schools in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam to a charity climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, outdoor sports, and cheering on Duke Basketball.

Connor Southard, Editorial Board Member

Connor Southard is a freshman in Trinity College, and a proud resident of Laramie, Wyoming. In his short time at Duke, Connor has had the pleasure of working with the vivacious members of the Editorial Board, doing internship work at Duke Magazine, and working as a low-level volunteer for a certain presidential campaign. Connor's interests include most things that fulfill neither a science nor a quantitative requirement for Trinity graduation, though he has nothing but compliments for Dr. Wray's "Biology of Dinosaurs" course. It is most likely that Connor will major in English, but he feels lucky to have some time to decide among that course and his other diverse interests in the liberal arts.
