The Duke-North Carolina basketball game has been rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 20. No game time has been set.

Wednesday's Duke-North Carolina basketball game at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill was canceled because of the winter storm in the area, according to an official press release.

Winter Storm Pax dumped more than six inches of snow on the Triangle between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday.

"Duke's bus is not able to get to their campus to pick up the team in time to be able to make the trip to Chapel Hill so we can't play this evening," UNC Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham said in the press release. "The safety of the teams and officials is the number one priority and this was the best decision to make at this time. Coach Williams, Coach Krzyzewski, Kevin White and I will be on the phone with the ACC and make a decision as to when to play the game as soon as possible."

Duke vice president and director of athletics Kevin White did not release a statement following the game's postponement.

Both North Carolina and Duke canceled classes midday Wednesday. Duke’s on-campus busses stopped running at 5:30 p.m. and all Thursday classes were cancelled by 9 p.m. Wednesday. A state of emergency has been declared for the city of Durham.

The reshuffled schedule will give the Blue Devils four games in the course of a week. Duke will return to action Saturday against Maryland before heading to Atlanta to take on Georgia Tech Feb. 18. After squaring off with the Tar Heels in Chapel HIll, Duke will host Syracuse Feb. 22.
