Power outage in a number of campus buildings caused by fallen tree

More than a thousand people in Durham have lost their access to power due to a fallen tree, according to a Duke Today release

On Wednesday afternoon, a tree fell on Anderson Street near Duke University road and Duke's West Campus, taking out a circuit and knocking out power for roughly 1,200 Duke Energy customers. The release said that a number of buildings at Duke were affected.

According to the release, the incident has left Anderson blocked south of Duke University Road and left signals without power on Anderson, the intersection of Erwin Road and Anderson and Erwin and Trent Drive.

Power is expected to be restored around 5 p.m.
