This year's Old Duke headliner Lil Jon is famous for his songs “Get Low” and “Snap Yo Fingers.”

Students should get ready to snap their fingers for Lil Jon, this year’s Old Duke headliner.

Duke University Union announced Wednesday that Lil Jon—known for his hits “Get Low” and “Snap Yo Fingers”—will perform at the annual throwback concert, which will be held April 6 from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Abele Quadrangle.

Senior David Soled, president of Duke University Union Campus Concerts, said that DUU tried to build off the success of last year’s headliner Sean Kingston by bringing an artist who reminds students of good times in middle school and high school.

“The songs they want to hear are more songs they think of when they think of bar mitzvahs and sweet sixteens,” Soled said.

Soled noted that the high-energy performer will bring back memories of students’ first parties and is more than just a one-hit wonder, unlike some previous Old Duke headliners. He said that Lil Jon is featured on “basically every song you’ve ever heard”—such as Usher’s “Yeah” and LMFAO’s “Shots.”

“He really thrives on both doing hip-hop rap and in EDM circles, both of which are hugely popular in concerts at Duke,” Soled said.

Opening for Lil John will be Bubba Sparxxx, who is best known for his song “Ms. New Booty.”

This year’s location in Abele Quad is a welcome change from last year’s concert in the Blue Zone, Soled added.

He stressed that students should come to the concert early because it will end around 10:30 p.m. due to classes being in session the next day.

“It’s going to be a great environment, hopefully the weather will be beautiful,” Soled said. “It’s going to be a great day.”

Soled, who has served on various DUU concert boards during his four years, noted that this is his final project after having personally been in charge of several concerts.

“It’s the end of the Soled administration,” he joked.
