Blue Devils United had the opportunity to meet and speak with all three candidates for the upcoming Young Trustee election. All are exceptional candidates, and it was an absolute pleasure to hear the plans and ideas the candidates have for the Duke community. After careful deliberation and consideration, we are excited to endorse David Robertson for Young Trustee.
As Duke University’s undergraduate student organization for sexual and gender diversity, we aim to promote an environment of acceptance and respect at the University through advocacy and social programming. Given our priority of lobbying for more inclusive administrative policies, we found that Robertson would be most influential in implementing relevant changes and starting important conversations on the Board of Trustees.
We are thrilled that all three Young Trustee candidates showed interest and support in our organization and its goals. Robertson has set himself apart from the other candidates with his proven history of advocating for a wide variety of Duke’s underrepresented populations. His leadership of Common Ground, the FAC Board, and the 1G Network best exemplify his passion for diversity. We know that he will draw on these experiences to provide a knowledgeable voice to the Board. We find this perspective critical to further improving policy and public attitudes towards sexual and gender diversity at Duke.
