Trustees to approve annual budget

The Board of Trustees will convene this weekend, and approving the budget for the 2014-15 year is at the top of their agenda.

The operating budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year totaled $2.1 billion. Additionally, the Trustees will discuss improvements and renovations to be made to Wallace Wade Stadium.

The annual commencement weekend meeting is always more compressed than others, said Michael Schoenfeld, vice president for public affairs and government relations. Many of the trustees take part in the various graduation ceremonies.

The is the first meeting following the Board's February retreat to Stanford University. The trustees will be discussing the takeaways from the meeting.

The Board will also approve the awarding of degrees to undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

As part of routine updates from throughout the University, the Board will hear from Kelly Brownell, dean of the Sanford School of Public Policy. This was Brownell’s first year as dean.

The Board will also hear updates from Dean of Undergraduate Education Steve Nowicki.

Neither Brownell nor Nowicki could be reached for comment in time for publication.
