Anderson resigns after 15 years

Wrestling head coach Clar Anderson, who owns a career record of 101-125-2 with the Blue Devils, resigned Wednesday, Duke Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White announced.

Anderson was the ACC coach of the year in 2004, but the Blue Devils went just 3-10 this season and finished sixth in the ACC, posting an 0-5 record in conference matches.

Assistant coach Glen Lanham has been named interim head coach until a permanent replacement is found.

“It has been a privilege working for Duke University and especially with outstanding student athletes,” Anderson said in a press release. “I will miss coaching, but look forward to the next stage of my life and spending more time with my family.”

Anderson coached 14 Blue Devils to the NCAA championships during his tenure, including two-time All-American heavyweight Konrad Dudziak.

Duke had the highest cumulative GPA in the nation in 2007 and 2008 under Anderson.
