Student fan support pathetic

I’ve been to a lot of Duke football games over the past 12 years, but Saturday’s game marked two extremes; it was both the most exciting game I’ve seen at Wallace Wade and also the most poorly attended by Duke students. There we were, in the midst of a back-and-forth shootout with our conference foe UVA (who we had beaten the past two years) and our student section was basically empty. For all of you who braved the cold, rainy weather for Tailgate yet didn’t go to the game, shame on you. Fandom, like friendship, is tested in its painful moments... and most of you failed.

We have a huge game this Saturday at home against Boston College—by all means, go to Tailgate beforehand. But don’t go back to your dorm and take a nap, go watch the event that tailgates were created for.
