Bozman earns 300th win in wipeouts

No. 4 Duke picked up its seventh and eighth straight wins this weekend and, in the process, gave head coach Beth Bozman her 300th career victory.

The Blue Devils (14-3, 2-2) beat Appalachian State 10-1 Saturday and Longwood 6-0 at the newly dedicated Katz Field Hockey Stadium to catapult Bozman into the selective club, becoming just the ninth Division I coach to attain the milestone.

Bozman racked up her wins at Hofstra, Princeton and Duke. She is in her sixth year at the helm of the Blue Devil program and needs just win three wins for her 100th in her career in Durham.

The program celebrated another benchmark Sunday, as Duke honored donor Jack Katz before the game.

President Richard Brodhead, Director of Athletics Kevin White and Bozman all gave speeches thanking Katz for his donation that made the renovations to Williams Field possible.

The Blue Devils return to the turf Saturday against No. 13 Virginia in their regular-season finale.

They host the ACC championship Nov. 6-9.
